Other pick and place machine manufacturers work to different feeder standards, so a mixed-brand line needs the matching unit on each machine. Wide tape carries the larger parts — heavy connectors, power devices and big IC packages that will not sit in a narrow pocket. They are placed with a wider nozzle, and the placement head only picks reliably when each pocket stops in the right place. If you are unsure which width a part needs, the reel label normally states the carrier tape size.
Those are narrower-tape feeders with their own bodies and tape paths, while this model is the wide-reel member of the family. Match the feeder to the reel your component arrives on, because the body, tape path and index are sized to the reel width. The two formats do not interchange in the same slot.
